Baking for the Love of it.
For most of my years as a bakery owner, I produced large quantities-all by hand, selling across Canada wholesale, and taking orders for any of the 230 items (!!) on my menu, any time a customer wanted something.
As you can imagine, with a community of almost 4,000, a walk-in retail space, wholesale orders in stores all over Canada and the US, a weekend booth at a local Farmer's Market, and saying yes to any and all orders...any time... I was working 80 hour work weeks, and my body and my joy both took a huge hit.
It is my sincerest pleasure to serve people through the creation of good food. I love my customers, and helping them meet their health goals, or just seeing them enjoy their food again really lights me up!
So, saying "no" to orders almost never happened.
However, I've named this new iteration of my baking business "Bliss", because over the past few years, I have grown to understand the phrase: "follow your bliss" in a new and profound way. Not only do I think YOU will find bliss in my baking, ;) but it is a focus of mine to ensure that I protect my joy/creative energy this time around.
This means setting this business up very differently than my previous bakery, so these are the commitments I am making to myself, my craft, and to you-my customers:
1) In order to allow me time to be creative and productive in the kitchen, the only orders I will be taking from individuals are:
a) Cupcake/Cake orders-with at least a week notice, (less notice will require a rush fee), and with a minimum order of:
12 Cupcakes or 1 Cake, or 1 Cake and 6 Cupcakes, or 4 dozen mini cupcakes.
b) Items for delivery from a set menu (forthcoming, starting in March) once per month to Fergus ON, and Buffalo NY-these will be "everyone meet me in a parking lot" type deliveries, orders will be in quantities to simplify my baking schedule. No local deliveries will be available I'm afraid.
c) Cinnamon rolls for the weeks I do Cinnamon Roll Saturdays. You can order them in a kit to bake at home, or already baked for pick up at the Coffee House. Through the month of March, this will be every other weekend. (Dependent upon me procuring a mixer.) After that, I will be doing Cinnamon Roll Saturdays most weeks.
2) I commit to providing larger quantities of the best-loved items. Items in quantities of 6+ will be available at Pulse Coffee House for walk-in purchase, dependent upon availability, as well in smaller quantities from the counter.
3) I commit to communicating regularly what is available. I will be baking and posting what I have available on my Facebook Page for now, but will very likely move over to "Telegram", so I can send text messages as a group text instead. Why? Because Facebook doesn't show my posts to everyone, and I'd like to not be relying on them for communication. Everyone deserves the same chance at great baked goods!
Some days, I will be on-site, and you will be able to phone me, prepay and have things held for you for pick up. Other days, I will not be on site, and this won't be possible, and it will be on a "while supplies last" basis. I will be sure to notate that when I post my available baking!
4) I commit to trying new things/flavors/recipes, and to offering new things for you to try on a regular basis! This is my favorite part of what I do, so if you have a request...let me know and I'll add it to my list!
And last but not least,
5) I commit to doing my best- providing the safest and highest quality products I can with every baking run, every order, and every product. I also recognize I am not infallible, and will make right any (honest) reported issues that may arise.
I look forward to baking for you, and sharing with you my artisanal gluten free baking!
Let's follow our Bliss together!
